Overview

This issue highlights pediatric hemodialysis access ultrasound, preventive venous thrombosis diagnosis, ultrasound in traumatic and post catheterization pseudoaneurysms, and aberrant extracranial branch preventing complete carotid occlusion.



Objectives
After reading and studying the (6) articles in the June 2019 Issue of the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the wait time for pediatric kidney transplantation.
  2. Define the routine of evaluation for pediatric preoperative AV fistula studies.
  3. Define the failure to mature and percentage of pediatric AVF patients who do.
  4. Discuss the number of VTE’s and PE’s annually.
  5. Define spontaneous echo contrast
  6. Describe risk for VTE.
  7. Define Horner syndrome.
  8. Define HITS.
  9. Describe value of reversed flow in an ophthalmic artery.
  10. Define values of transradial access.
  11. Describe potential values to transradial access.
  12. Describe location of distal radial artery access.
  13. Discuss value of sonographer in finding traumatic lower leg aneurysms
  14. Discuss treatments of leg aneurysms.
  15. Define FAST.
  16. Describe branches coming off of the normal internal carotid artery.
  17. Describe various ECA branches.
  18. Define current vascular education for treatment of carotid occlusions.
