ZOOM meeting site opens at 7:30 a.m.

CME Fee: $50 for those who wish to receive 3.5 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Payment must be received prior to the meeting.  Either send a $50 check or money order made payable to “University of Cincinnati Dept. of Ophthalmology” attention Michele Wyan, to the above address. Using ZOOM audiovisual conferencing on a computer with a webcam (desktop or laptop):

1. Open your web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and type in “Zoom.us/join.”
2. Type in the Meeting ID “5135585151” and select “Join.”
3. If you have used Zoom in the past on this device, the Zoom app is already downloaded on your computer and you will be prompted to allow this page to open “zoom.us.” Select “Allow,” then select “Join with Video.”
4. If you have not used Zoom in the past, the Zoom app is not on this device. You will receive the message “If nothing prompts from your browser, “download & run Zoom.” Select “download & run Zoom.”
a. After the Zoom app downloads, open the Zoom app to run. If queried, allow ‘zoom.us” to access files in your Downloads folder.
b. Select “Join a Meeting” and type in the Meeting ID “5135585151." Do not select “Sign Up” and do not select “Sign In.” There will be no charge for joining a Zoom meeting.
c. Next, select “Join” without checking the boxes “Don’t connect to audio” & “Turn off my video.” Your audio will be automatically muted; & your webcam will be automatically turned off by our meeting IT.
5. Zoom will prompt you to “Join with Computer Audio” to hear others and to be heard. Select “Join with Computer Audio” so that you can ask questions during Q and A. When you want to ask a question, select the “Unmute” icon. If you want to be seen while asking a question, select the “Start Video” icon and your camera will turn on. Do not select Switch Cameras and do not select Switch to Gallery View.

Using ZOOM audiovisual conferencing on a cell phone or tablet:


1. Download the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app.
2. Open the Zoom app and select “Join a Meeting.” Do not select “Sign Up” and do not select “Sign In.” There will be no charge for joining a Zoom meeting.
3. Type in the Meeting ID “5135585151” using no spaces and no dashes and select “Join.”
4. Video: The next prompt gives you the option of joining the meeting by allowing Zoom to access your webcam. Select “Join without Video” in order to see the meeting speakers and PowerPoint presentations but to have your webcam turned off. If you select “Join with Video,” your webcam will automatically be turned off by our meeting IT. If you want to be seen while asking a question, select the “Start Video” icon and your camera will turn on. Do not select Switch Cameras and do not select Switch to Gallery View.
5. Audio: To hear others, please join audio by selecting “Call using the Internet Audio.” Your microphone will automatically be muted by our meeting IT. If you choose to ask a question during Q & A, select the “Unmute” icon. You may be asked to turn on your device microphone for the Zoom app in your Privacy Settings.

Note: There may be some variation in the aforementioned ZOOM wording and options on different devices.

Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:
 

  1. Identify new areas of basic science and clinical research in ophthalmology
  2. Discuss and utilize new teaching, diagnostic, and management strategies in ophthalmology
  3. Define the role of new surgical modalities in ophthalmology
