Target Audience
Specialties - Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology and Rehabilitation, Primary Care
Professions - Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician, Physician Assistant

Credits
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (0.50 hours), AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ Designated (0.50 hours)

Overview

This activity offers a unique approach to digital case-based, patient-centric education in which learners are challenged to consider the care delivered in a clinical scenario and recognize potential sub-optimal treatment approaches or management strategies implemented by the healthcare team. Learners will identify changes to the described care that could improve patient outcomes, such as treatment selection for PD motor symptoms or integration of shared decision-making (SDM). These issues will be fully examined by the faculty through commentary and discussions. Learners will then have the opportunity to apply key learning by managing a similar, but different, clinical scenario.

Objectives

As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Review the efficacy and safety of agents for the management of early motor symptoms of PD;
  2. Outline pharmacologic options for managing motor fluctuations in PD;
  3. Describe factors that should be considered when using an on-demand management plan for late motor symptoms.
