Overview
This issue addresses concerns pedal blood flow in the diabetic foot, describing the implementation of a vascular fellowship training in the vascular lab, AV fistula of the vertebral vein and artery, possible uses of TCD in stroke patients and a case of mandible compression causing carotid compression.


Objectives
Upon completion of reading the issue, the learner should be able to:

  1. Discuss the possible utility of PAT in the diabetic foot patient.
  2. Define the possible collaterals between the anterior tibial and the peroneal arteries.
  3. Name the two major bifurcations of the dorsalis pedis artery as it courses anterior.
  4. Discuss the possible causes of vertebrobasilar fistulas.
  5. Define the type of flows found in a vein post fistula.
  6. Discuss possible tinnitus causes.
  7. Define the time frame in stroke outcomes.
  8. DefineVCI
  9. Discuss length of time between TCD measurements.
  10. Define RPVI.
  11. Discuss factors in a good fellowship teaching program to prepare vascular to take the RPVI exam.
  12. Discuss when hands – on basic testing is first introduced to fellowship students.
  13. Discuss the procedure for determining mandibular arterial compression.
  14. Name the muscle that caused the carotid artery compression.
  15. Discuss symptomology of mandibular compression syndrome.
