Overview
The Quality Improvement and Research Committee of the Society for Vascular Ultrasound has recognized the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound to promote quality improvement, research and scholarly initiatives of the Society. An understanding of the content and character of its published articles and its status amongst journals on vascular ultrasound will be useful to this mandate. This project aims to identify the scope of Journal for Vascular Ultrasound and its implications for the Society membership.


Objectives
After reading and studying the papers used for CME in the December 2019 Issue of the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the types of material published in the Journal of Vascular Technology.
  2. List the types of journals used to evaluate bibliometric results.
  3. Define the maximum ultrasound content in any one journal.
  4. Name the Journal with the highest percentage of vascular ultrasound content.
  5. Discuss the type(s) of articles not accepted by the JVU.
  6. Discuss what is types of articles are the bulk of the JVU.
  7. Define the first step used in the meta-analysis of carotid stenosis.
  8. Discuss the method of data analysis used in this study of carotid stenosis.
  9. Define the number of studies were found to fulfill all search criteria.
  10. Discuss if ICA/CCA PSV ratio and % stenosis may be quantified with a machine learning algorithm.
  11. Define factors to determine a moderate stenosis.
  12. Discuss which patients were excluded from the common carotid velocity study.
  13. Discuss the most common carotid exam indication for this study.
  14. Define the percentage of carotid body tumors that are malignant
  15. Discuss Shamblin’s classification system.
  16. Define Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).
  17. Define the percentage of patient with POTS who were tested for vascular thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) turned out positive.
  18. Define the rarest form of TOS.

Registration

This Enduring Material activity is available online at www.svunet.org. To receive credit, participants must read the CME articles, including the learning objectives and disclosure statements, as well as the full content of each of these articles, and then complete the post test and evaluation form.  Upon successful completion of the post test (80% correct) and evaluation form, a CME certificate of participation will be awarded automatically.  The certificate may be printed directly from the website.

Non-members:  $40.00

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Cincinnati and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound.
