Overview

The Leadership Essentials for Health Department Success is an education program designed to provide health department professionals with leadership skills to perform in a management position at their health department.

Audience: This course is intended for employees new to public health leadership at the local level.
Prerequisites: Not required
Level: Beginning leadership role

Registration
Registration Fee $80.00
Please visit the AOHC website for registration and hotel accommodations. 

Registration includes attendance at the two-day event, light breakfast, and lunch. Participants will also receive a one-night stay at a local hotel, if needed, on the night of October 15, 2024.

Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify essential human resources functions at a local public health district in Ohio.
  2. Identify Performance Management implications for local public health in Ohio.
  3. Identify Quality Improvement initiatives and resources.
  4. Identify strategies to avoid “Theft in Office”.
  5. Identify strategies for facility management and disaster planning.
  6. Identify Ohio cost methodology requirements and implement cost planning.
  7. Identify tools to build relationships with legislators.
  8. Identify employee attitude, change, and team building strategies.
  9. Identify funding sources for local public health.

Accreditation
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Cincinnati and the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners (AOHC). The University of Cincinnati is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Cincinnati designates this live activity for a maximum of 14.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Faculty members are required to inform the audience when they are discussing off-label, unapproved uses of devices and drugs. Physicians should consult full prescribing information before using any product mentioned during this educational activity.
