Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be better able to:

  1. Explain the neurobiology of addiction and how it can inform treatment.
  2. Describe special needs and issues related to the pregnant addicted patient, adolescent and elderly addicted populations, and patients with comorbid psychiatric disorders.
  3. Explain data on the use of cannabis for medical disorders (randomized placebo-controlled trials)
  4. List safety issues regarding cannabis use in medical disorders
  5. Describe risks of CBD, especially that purchased online or from retailers
  6. List reasons for using Telepsychiatry during the COVID Pandemic
  7. Demonstrate how to use various Telepsychiatry techniques
  8. Summarize legal, licensure and ethical issues with Telepsychiatry
  9. Develop treatment strategies for patients diagnosed with bipolar depression.
  10. Develop treatment strategies for patients diagnosed with major depression.
  11. Discuss the clinical efficacy and safety data regarding patience diagnosed with psychiatric disorders.
  12. Develop treatment strategies for patients diagnosed with OCD, with and without comorbidities.
  13. Evaluate current and emerging treatment strategies for diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorders.
  14. Discuss anxiety disorders in patients of all age spans and their treatments.
  15. Select an optimal treatment strategy for patients diagnosed with psychosis.
  16. Compare medications and treatment for patients with various sleep disorders.
