Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Design a comprehensive treatment plan for acne patients based on clinical guidelines, incorporating pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic strategies.
  2. Discuss the clinical relevance of the most recent research on the etiologies and therapy of acne vulgaris.
  3. Identify risk factors for actinic keratosis.
  4. Design individualized treatment strategies for patients with actinic keratosis to reduce risk of squamous cell carcinoma.
  5. Design evidence-based, guideline-driven treatment strategies for patients with AD based on disease severity with the goal of clear or almost clear skin.
  6. Incorporate strategies for use of use of new therapies aimed at blocking the inflammatory mediators of AD.
  7. Identify medication-induced auto-immunities, including autoimmune vasculitis syndromes, connective tissue diseases, and blistering diseases.
  8. Assess and manage eczematous dermatitis in the context of primary immunodeficiencies in children and adults.
  9. Describe evidence-based strategies for the diagnosis and pharmacologic management of hyperhidrosis.
  10. Develop screening strategies to identify comorbid conditions in pediatric patients with dermatologic issues.
  11. Design psychologic and medical treatment strategies appropriate for pediatric patients with common dermatologic conditions.
  12. Discuss photo-protection with patients, including pediatric patients and their caregivers.
  13. Describe the algorithm for the diagnosis of photodermatoses.
  14. Describe the pathophysiology of psoriasis and its associated comorbidities.
  15. Diagnose and treat patients with psoriasis appropriately, based on current clinical guidelines.
  16. Design treatment strategies that incorporate of biologic therapies in the management of appropriately selected patients with psoriasis.
  17. Increase routine screening for psoriatic arthritis in patients with psoriasis
  18. Develop strategies to increase screening for and management of comorbidities of psoriasis, including cardiovascular and psychiatric disorders.
  19. Identify key patient characteristics to individualize treatment selection in patients with psoriasis.
  20. Recognize clinical presentations of rheumatic skin disease, including conditions that mimic these diseases.
