Advanced Lower Extremity Arterial Duplex - Part 1

This presentation is to bring awareness of the challenges in caring for patients with Chronic Limb-threatening Ischemia.

Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) patients can be challenging to care for. Vascular technologists can provide additional information that is valuable to the vascular specialists pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively. The knowledge gap is the specialist understanding what additional information vascular technologists can provide and the vascular ultrasound technologist understanding how and what information to add to the standard lower extremity arterial duplex in the CLTI patient.

1. Determine when to perform an enhanced arterial duplex in the CLTI patient.
2. Prescribe what additional information a vascular technologist can provide a vascular specialist for pre-operative planning.
3. Tabulate the whole clinical picture of these complex patients and effectively communicate with the specialist of the ultrasound findings
