Overview

Uncontrolled chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) can lead to persistent and severe pruritus, sleep disruption, and anxiety, significantly impairing quality of life. Standard therapies often fail to deliver effective, durable relief. However, new insights into CSU’s immune-mediated pathways have opened the door to more personalized care, including biomarker-driven diagnosis, classification, and treatment. Among emerging therapies, Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors show promise in patients unresponsive to maximized antihistamines. These agents act quickly and have demonstrated efficacy and tolerability.

This PeerView Cases activity uses a real-world clinical scenario to navigate current challenges in CSU management. Through a video-based format, it highlights key prognostic biomarkers, reviews the latest clinical data on BTK inhibitors, and presents evidence-based strategies for optimizing care—emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches that address both physical and psychosocial patient needs.

Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the key prognostic biomarkers used in the diagnosis and assessment of CSU;
  2. Assess the latest clinical trial data surrounding emerging therapies, such as BTK inhibitors, for the treatment of CSU;
  3. Implement optimal strategies for the treatment of CSU based on evolving clinical evidence with respect to emerging agents;
  4. Develop multidisciplinary care plans for CSU patients that address both the physical and psychosocial aspects of the disease, ensuring comprehensive management of the condition.
