40916 - Decision Points in ASCVD Prevention and Management: Team-Based Strategies to Meet Goals for Lipid Lowering Along the Risk Continuum - Enduring Material

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States, affects more than 83 million Americans. LDL-C and lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] are recognized as causal and independent risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), meaning millions more are at risk due to elevated lipid levels. Despite the prevalence of ASCVD risk factors and widening recognition of the benefits of attaining increasingly stringent lipid goals, large segments of high-risk populations remain undiagnosed or undertreated. Central to effective team-based care, physician associates (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) are increasingly critical in the prevention and management of CV disease.

To assist advanced practice clinicians in identifying critical decision points for ASCVD prevention and management, PeerView Live brings this engaging meeting directly to your doorstep. At each meeting, attendees can interact directly with a lipid expert to ask their most challenging questions. Regarding prevention, the expert will share their insights on identifying patients at risk for ASCVD and the roles of LDL-C and Lp(a). Turning to management, the expert will share actionable, team-based strategies to reduce CV risk in high-risk patients and improve treatment adherence to lipid-lowering therapies.

There are no fees for participating in and receiving CME credit for this activity.

1. Explain the role of LDL-C and lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] as a risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD);
2. Identify people at risk for ASCVD based on guidelines for screening and risk stratification;
3. Apply evidence-based ASCVD management approaches to reduce CV risk in high-risk patients;
4. Integrate team-based communication and care coordination strategies to facilitate treatment adherence to lipid-lowering therapies in patients at risk of CV events.
